Into The Moat - Means By Which The End Is Justified

Lovelost, 2003, CD, vinyl

This is another bonkers-core record. All the usual creatures come to mind... Mr Bungle, John Zorn, Dillinger, Daughters, The Locust.
Perhaps it's not as off-the-wall as some of those. You really have to hit on a special combination of social unrest, drugs and insanity to fuck with John Zorn and Yamatsuka Eye.
It's mainly math-metal. Almost like Between The Buried And Me but less of a concern for songs or melody or anything, just math riff after math riff and screamed vocals.
There are quite a lot of these bands now. Back in '98 when I had decided that I wanted to hear the most out there rock and metal after spending too long in Formal Aspects Of Computer Science lectures there just wasn't the range of bands or depth to this scene.
We were talking Mr Bungle, Secret Chiefs, John Zorn, Nuclear Rabbit and that's it. Now? You could have rock nights where you just play records from these bands and just one from each as there would be that many.
