The Cure - Faith

Some major labels, 1981, CD, Vinyl, Cassette, Remastered green vinyl on some weird Russian label in 2008

I was talking to some kid earlier who was telling me what emo was and what it was all about and the history and influences. I told this son of a bitch "look none of those shitty bands you are telling me about have anything to do with it. Bands like Joy Division, The Smiths, The Cure and New Order had more of an impact on this crock of shit that this thing has turned into than any of that. After that we didn't speak anymore because he had never heard of any of those bands.

So this is supposed to be about this miserable Cure record where they are mired in the thick of it, drudging along, plodding, miserable, melancholic. "All Cats Are Grey", "The Funeral Party" the song titles go. You can imagine the mood. It's none of that shit where they were getting a bit jiggy later on with some pop hooks and prancing about all glam. This was just dark and raining English morbid Sunday misery. I mean looks at the cover... what the hell is that about.
