Secret Chiefs 3 - First Grand Constitution And Bylaws

Amarillo, 1996, CD, Vinyl

Once you get sick of all the regular records around about the late teens, maybe second year of university, you start looking for things off the beaten track. It might go like this... rock music, heavy metal, thrash metal, death metal, grindcore, The Locust and on. Eventually you might wind up at Mr Bungle after you have done with The Locust and then you want some more madness just so you can stay sane and so you end up with a lot of Japanese bands and then eventually you get hold of Secret Chiefs 3.

In your delirious state of semi-conscious reverie where you have stayed awake for 40 hours to stay up just to go to the shops when they open, because there is nothing else to do, this record finds its way onto your player. After the opening three tracks of which a variety of obscure musical genres are somehow cobbled together in demented fashion, you realise that the whole thing is keeping you awake and so you continue to listen rather than fall into oblivion. After the record is over you realise that you have heard more genres of music in one recording than the average rugby player down the corridor has heard in his lifetime. What's more, the whole thing has a kind of maniacal glee running through it, which now means that you are able to go down to the shops in what resembles a drunken stupor.
