Creation Is Crucifixion - Automata

Willowtip, 1999, CD

I saw these guys once at the 1 in 12 in Bradford at some all-dayer. It was late when they came on, like some silly time, maybe midnight... by then we had screwed up for the last train and still Good Clean Fun were to play. When they got going there was a big scrum at the front and some big units were in there turnip picking and windmilling and the whole job. Half way through the set the singer decided to spend about 20 minutes giving a lecture on Hactivism and social theory meta-disassemblement or something. I was interested I must say but the big lads at the front just wanted more blast beats and carnage.
So what is the CD like? Well it's like this math core grind supreme with lot's of riffs up and down the fretboard, mosh parts, breakdowns, fast parts, all with these sickened growls of protest over the top. It's quite technical, sounds like one of these sickboxes like the Locust and Crom Tech but just more sicker and darker.
It's not like totally well produced or anything so you probably won't find it in the shops. Half the CD is weird noise and there is some multimedia content, but back then nobody gave a fuck about that kind of thing so I've no idea what it contains.
Anyway, on that night in question we got out of the 1 in 12 at about 1:30, totally withered, unable to see where we would stay the night. No money, nothing. We ended up in Bradford bus station on these dirty cold benches having to listen to this child's toy machine that you pay to ride on a loop of "Hello, I'm Jonny, do you want a ride?"... "
Hello, I'm Jonny, do you want a ride?"
Hello, I'm Jonny, do you want a ride?"
Hello, I'm Jonny, do you want a ride?"
Hello, I'm Jonny, do you want a ride?"
Hello, I'm Jonny, do you want a ride?"
My god! Without those blast beats and sick math riffs in my head I might not have survived that night.
