Enforsaken - Sinner

Crash, 2006, CD

This is a very well done death metal record from this Chicago band. Attempting to listen to it without any preconceptions makes it even more enjoyable because then you can free yourself from having to compare it with any other bands or styles.

A sick, bold production is allied with strong song-writing skills. The guitarists totally rule in this band with their playing and technical ability and they do some great progressive solos. They pull sick palm-muted tremolo pieces and the usual intricate lead riffs that define this style. There are even some sick as hell beatdowns. The consistency of the quality is maintained throughout without any lame tracks. There are no experiments either, it's just good solid expertly done stuff.

The vocalist has a mature sound and good character and definition to his screams and it keeps things interesting knowing that he can also vary things up a bit with his delivery.

Overall this is a very accomplished, technically brilliant record.
