Die Young - Graven Images

Eulogy, 2007, CD, Vinyl

This is decent sounding modern hardcore. What grabs you are the vocals that are in this idiosyncratic sickened style, sounding slightly different to the usual bands knocking this kind of thing out.

The music is the usual pummeling fast and furious style that has become popular over the last few years but is more metallic than a lot of the old-school sounding bands, borrowing more from Hatebreed than say Comeback Kid. There are also other influences that make it a decent listen rather than predictable and dull. "Ghost Towns" for instance starts with a fast tremolo riff that bands like Catharsis were using in days gone by. No regular old school band would ever touch a riff like that. There are also some very sublime instrumental tracks like "Despairing Hope" and "In Limbo" added to the job which adds further to the texture they have already created here.

Recommended.
