Heroin - Discography

Gravity, 1997, CD, Vinyl

One of the pioneers of early 90s hardcore, members went on to play in bands such as Antioch Arrow and Angel Hair and their singer formed the San Diego label Gravity. This discography collects together all their songs from the 2 7" and the 12".

This record shows where early 90s hardcore was at that was following on from the Dischord bands of the 80s such as Rites Of Spring and Embrace. It's not the 88 youth-crew sound we are talking about here, but a much more arty, mysterious affair that borrowed more from the art underground than any Youth Of Today or Minor Threat record.

Songs blaze by in a melee of chaotic, dischordant guitars and lo-fi, impassioned screeches as the band sound furious and emotional, all at once, and all of the time.

Along with the speed and general sound of craziness that you can expect from any hardcore band of the time, there is much subtlety as the guitars use various textures and amelodic lead riffs to create a swirling frenzy of a thing that sounds like they are only ever a few notes away from coming apart at the seams.

Get this.
